TCB Rising Star Award 2012!
I question the validity of any award that has been won by Noel Clarke. I don’t like the fact that Noel Clarke refers to himself as a ‘BAFTA award winning actor/writer/director’. I don’t like Noel Clarke. Or 2012 nominee, Adam Deacon.
So, I thought I’d set up an alternative ‘Rising Star’ award. Not sponsored by Orange but also not a consumerist orgy. I have searched long and hard to find some international filmmakers, of varying age and experience, who I think deserve the chance to be recognised. This award might not carry the same prestige as the BAFTA but hopefully it will open people’s eyes to the fact that there are better filmmakers out there than the man responsible for 4.3.2.1 (and then give them some money to make ‘em!).
The nominees are as follows (click on their name for an example of their work):
Please get voting! The poll will close 15th of March (aka The Ides of March)!
Who should win the TCB Rising Star 2012 Award?
- RJ Bruni (38%, 236 Votes)

- Phil Arntz (21%, 133 Votes)
- Konrad Aksinowicz (14%, 89 Votes)
- Brandon Weber (1%, 4 Votes)
Total Voters: 624

rj bruni is number 1!!!!!
Almost
Looking very tight at the moment…
Hmm – turned out I voted for the person I wanted to, but I’ve no idea how! Could the instructions be a bit more specific? All I think I did was click on his name to see his sample – and bingo, I’d voted by accident….
Hmmm… not sure how that would’ve happened as the sample links aren’t part of the poll. So long as you got the right guy though I guess it’s not the end of the world!
Yeee Mr. Bruni reppin it from the true north strong and free!
RJ BRUNI IS THE BESSSTTT!!!!!
Yeah RJ!
WOW!! That is one impressive list, Nick. I loved all of them. But there can be only one, and it’s Phil Arntz for me. Thanks for exposing us to this wonderful body of work – very inspiring stuff to use a a benchmark to step my game up. Luckily we have sites like yours to keep us informed, inspired and up to speed.
